Benu Blanc x Sericyne collaboration: creating the French beauty silk industry

Beauty silk and commitment to made in France: recreating and bringing silk to life in textiles and cosmetics

Silk made in France? How is this possible? As a young company committed to the made in France and natural cosmetics, Benu Blanc opens the way for the development of beauty silk in France: weaving and manufacturing in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, cosmetic production in Occitania, and partnership with Sericyne for a Cevennes origin of silk cocoons. Benu Blanc's objective: to enhance historical and ancestral know-how through beautiful innovations from silk and for beauty and well-being.

The Benu Blanc and Sericyne partnership: creating the French beauty silk industry

The idea of creating a beauty silk industry in France is above all a story of meetings: Clara Hardy, founder of Sericyne, Fanny Redziniak and Valérie Sabatier, co-founders of Benu Blanc, exchange together at the silk festival in Lyon. They share a passion for silk and the desire to create high-end, healthy and responsible products, made in France.

The main idea is to create an alliance so that the French silk production can give rise to rituals and cosmetic products of very high quality, effective and healthy. For Benu Blanc, it is to continue to explore the full potential of silk proteins in textile and cosmetic applications. For Sericyne, it is about finding a solid partner in cosmetics in order to develop a part of the outlets for its made in Cevennes production.

To inaugurate this partnership: exfoliating silk cocoons

While the technological developments are in the process of being set up for a program of several years of research, Clara, Fanny and Valerie want to highlight the French know-how around sericulture (the culture of silkworms). And it is an ancestral gesture of natural beauty that we want to share with you right now. Korean women, who are keen beauty lovers and whose K-beauty is recognized worldwide, have been using silk cocoons for centuries to refine their skin texture.

Exfoliating silk cocoons: what is the beauty gesture?

Soak the silk cocoon in warm water (preferably mineral water) for 2 to 3 minutes. When it is wet and soft, place the cocoon on your finger. Then make small circular movements on the face beforehand cleaned. You can insist on the zones with imperfections. After use, the cocoon should be air-dried and can be reused up to 3 times.

Why is it good for your skin? How can cocoons help skin regeneration?

In the cocoon, the two main silk proteins are present: fibroin and sericin. Fibroin has excellent exfoliating qualities while respecting the skin. The dead cells disappear gently and the skin is cleaned in depth. Sericin contains amino acids and natural antioxidants. It is it which will allow a better regeneration of the skin. With regular use, the skin texture is refined and the complexion is more luminous.

What is the contribution of made in France for these silk cocoons?

With made in France, the origin of these cocoons is sustainable, traceable and healthy. Sericyne raises its silkworms in the Cévennes region of France, in an area extremely protected from pollutants and pesticides. By combining tradition and innovation, Sericyne revives ancestral silk production know-how and is committed to developing quality partnerships with local farmers for the cultivation of mulberry trees and the breeding of silkworms. For Benu Blanc, the natural silk cocoons made in France allow to propose a natural and healthy beauty gesture.
